The Proud Moment For IIHM; When Our CEO Was Awarded Business Leader of the Year

On January 25th, our CEO was awarded Business Leader of the Year by the local Chamber of Commerce. It was a proud moment for our whole team, and we’re excited to share what made him stand out from the competition. We’ll also highlight some of the company’s recent achievements. Dr Suborno Bose, the founder of the Young Chef Olympiad, Co-chairman and CEO of the International Hospitality Council (IHC), and Founder and Chief Mentor of the Indismart Group, received the ET Now Business Leader Of The Year (Education) award at a glittering awards ceremony held in Mumbai on February 16, 2020.

Dr Bose’s efforts to put India on the global hospitality map have been recognised with this honor, which is well-deserved

ET Dr Bose was recently honored with this distinguished award by India’s premier business and financial news channel, in recognition of his pivotal role in the conception and organization of the International Young Chef Olympiad (YCO).

The sixth edition of YCO finished on February 02, 2020, with young student chefs and their mentors from 55 countries competing in the world’s largest culinary competition.

The IHC, in collaboration with the International Institute of Hotel Management (IIHM), hosted YCO 2020, which brought together so many countries on a single stage at a time when the world is divided on political, social, and economic issues.

Malaysia won gold, the Philippines took silver, and England took bronze at YCO 2020.

This one-of-a-kind programme was started by Dr Bose six years ago. Culinary experts such as Professor David Foskett, MBE, Chairman of the IHC and the YCO Jury, and author of the culinary Bible, Practical Cookery series, are accompanying him.

Dr Bose organized the tournament, bringing in well-known Indian and international chefs to serve as judges.

Chef Sanjeev Kapoor, a Padma Shri, has served as the YCO’s Principal Judge and Mentor for several years. President of the Royal Academy of Culinary Arts, Chef Brian Turner, CBE Chef Chris Galvin, co-owner of Galvin Restaurants in England and a Michelin-starred chef, Former Maitres de Cuisine Anton Edelmann de Chef of the Savoy Hotel in London, and other renowned chefs from around the world were among the 19 international judges for YCO 2020.

With 55 countries, the YCO is also a mutual understanding of cultural and educational interaction.

MoUs signed with representatives from each country during YCO are agreements to organize educational exchange programmes with IIHM.

The United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals were incorporated into the YCO 2020 subject of sustainability. Dr Bose also showed his support for Sustainability by participating in the Food Aid project.
